What is Osteopathic Manual Therapy?
Osteopathic Manual Therapy is a gentle non-invasive hands-on therapy that focuses on bringing the body's structure and function back to a state of whole-body optimal health.
The goal of Osteopathic Manual Therapy is to restore health and balance by assessing and treating the imbalances that reside within the structures and functions of the body having an appreciation that the body works as a single unit, the body has an innate ability to heal itself, the musculoskeletal structures impact function and the body has self-governing means.
What is MLD and what can it help with?
Manual Lymph drainage (MLD), is a technique developed by the Vodders (Dr. Emil Vodder and his wife, Estrid) in the 1930's for treatment of swollen lymph nodes. Lymphatic diseases, especially lymphedema (Level 3 qualification needed to treat Lymphedema), represent a serious problem in the health community.
Some examples of what MLD can help with are as follows:
In general: bruises, hematomas, arthritis, pre-op orthopedic and cosmetic surgery (as close to surgical date as possible).
Neck: Torticollis, idiopathic swollen lymph nodes.
Face: Relaxation, acne, dental work, sinusitis/allergies, headaches, trigeminal neuralgia/ Bell's palsy, TMJ, sunburn, tired/puffy eyes, eczema, rosacea, psoriasis, insomnia.
Leg: before knee surgery, pre-op, anterior compartment syndrome, growing pains, shin splints, phantom pain from amputation, varicose veins, pregnancy, plantar fasciitis, tired/restless legs, contusions/hematomas, DOMS, scleroderma, paralysis, Baker's cyst, diabetic legs (with normal kidney function), post athletic event.
Arm: Raynaud's syndrome, bursitis, palsy's, compartment syndrome, scleroderma, burns.
Nape: headaches.
Back: muscle sprain, burning sensation between scapula, intercostal neuralgia, scoliosis, ankylosing spondylitis, disc pathology, insomnia.
Buttocks: trochanteric bursitis, stretch marks, falls/post athletic event, pregnancy, piriformis syndrome, decubitus ulcers, increase circulation to hip.
Chest: mastitis (no infection), fibrotic breast, intercostal neuralgia, pre-op, breast pain/cysts, post-partum/ breast feeding, gynecomastia, trauma.
Abdomen: Improved sleep, pre surgery, endometriosis, dysmenorrhea, Lyme, gallstones.
What is cupping?
Cupping uses suction to draw blood to or away from specific areas of your body. Traditionally, cupping was used to increase blood flow and stimulate the flow of energy.
What does a treatment cost?
Costs vary depending on the appointment type.
Do you have Insurance?
I do have liability insurance.
Do you do direct billing?
Unfortunately, I do not do direct billing at this time. I will provide a receipt via e-mail that patients can submit to extended health providers. It is the patient’s responsibility to understand what is covered under their individual benefits plan.

How long is a treatment?
Treatments will generally take 30-60 minutes.
What should I wear?
Something comfortable that you can move easily in.
How will I inform you of any health conditions I may have?
On your first visit, I will provide an intake form for you to complete. Please let me know if you have any health concerns.
What ages do you treat?
I treat patients of all ages.
What is your late cancellation/no show policy?
Please provide 24 hours notice if you need to cancel for any reason such as feeling unwell, work, conflicting appointments etc. A flat rate of $40.00 dollars will be charged for no show or late cancellations.
